Who’s On Your Team?

Even though we may not be A-listers or professional athletes, this does not minimize the need to have “people” to help us achieve our goals.

I am grateful to have friends can run with, discuss training with or even kvetch with if things are going sideways on the health and fitness front. My people help keep me motivated, on track and are able to help me sort through my “stuff”.

Sometimes you may not feel comfortable sharing personal information with friends or family so luckily, the Internet has opened up a virtual world for us to share workouts, track steps and even compete with others.  You can join a group or forum that provides tips, tricks and strategies for you to lose weight and get healthy and can give you support any time of day.

Spark People, Map My Run, Strava, and even Weight Watchers provide forums or boards that you can access to share ideas and get support.  Some may require a subscription but many are free.

And while it’s great to have a team, it’s also important that you are able to reciprocate.   I promise that when you help someone, you are also helping yourself!

So find your team.  We all need “people”.
