Lessons Learned from the SF Giants

Happy Friday!  I had a lot of fun watching the SF Giants in the NLCS playoffs this past week.  In full disclosure it’s always way more fun to win than lose but in terms of how the games were played; hats off to both teams for some seriously awesome baseball.

There’s no disputing that the St. Louis Cardinals crushed the Giants in regards to the long ball.  Mucho homeruns and big fat at-bats.  In contrast, the Giants had a smaller game.  They chip, chip, chipped away- then get a big hit to move the players around.  And yes, while torturous to watch, it was a satisfying end.  In a nail-biting way.

Which brings me to my post for today.  Too often, people feel that in order to be successful they need the long ball; the ‘all or nothing’ approach.  They are strict with their eating and exercise until a cookie or meal out comes in to play or a day off derails their workout.  And since they messed up a meal or a workout they throw in the towel until the next day or even after the weekend.

I prefer the short game.  Sure it may not yield quick results but it’s equally effective.  Had a cookie?  Let it go and get back on track your next meal.  Skipped a workout?  Get back out there the next day and continue.  See where I’m going with this?  Channel your inner Hunter Pence and chip, chip, chip away and you’ll get where you want to be.

Now go run!

Keli 🙂
