At the request of a friend, I joined her team for the Dirty Girl Mud Run and Obstacle Course in San Francisco last weekend. For those of you who don’t know, these events consist of running through a field or parking lot and conquering obstacles along the way.
There are some very serious events out there that include fire, ice, and even barbed wire. Our race was tame in comparison. We did run and crawl through mud pits, wade through cold water and climb up and over obstacles but there wasn’t any danger of serious bodily harm. My favorite obstacles were the cargo nets, wall climb and mud crawl!
The best part of the race, by far, was being able to run into Candlestick Park and run some of the obstacles on the football field!
I loved that our team stuck together (for the most part) and cheered each other as we came to an obstacle. There were no time chips, no winners and no last-place. Just some mud, some water and a great time!
Now go run!
